About Kids in the Capital

Kids in the Capital is an Ottawa-based parenting blog where you can learn about local activities, attractions, and events, as well as parenting tips and tricks. The key is that the content on Kids in the Capital is written BY parents FOR parents from a first hand perspective.

We curate content from several contributors, but the day-to-day management of the blog is facilitated by these two lovely ladies:

Misty Pratt

Misty is a Community Manager for Kids in the Capital. She is mom to two adorable girls, and wife to a fabulous handyman. When she's not online as the voice of Kids in the Capital, she's managing giant spreadsheets in her job as a health researcher, or teaching prenatal classes with the Ottawa Childbirth Education Association. 

Lara Wellman

Lara is the owner of Kids in the Capital and The Biz Studio. She co-founded Kids in the Capital in 2010 because she saw a need for a space where parents could help each other with advice on what to see and do in the National Capital. She is passionate about building community online. 

She has three kids, a son and boy/girl twins. Life is never boring.
